Plank Pose (Phalakasana) – The best way to begin this pose for the first time is to lie flat on your belly, legs straight behind you and your hands under your chest. Take a deep breath in and push up into plank pose. Your arms should be straight with your shoulders directly over the wrists. Imagine creating a straight line with your back – it's easy to let your belly fall toward the ground. Keep your legs strong and straight and your gaze direct at the floor. If at any time your wrists begin to hurt, lower down gently to the floor as you exhale.

Benefits: This pose strengthens the arms, shoulders, core and back.
