Tonight's Full Moon in Cancer is certain to bring an abundance of energy! (Perhaps, even a little more than desired). This is a great opportunity to introduce a gentle bedtime yoga sequence to you or your child's practice!
Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutations!)
A more familiar sequence, Surya Namaskar or "Sun Salutations", is generally performed in the morning or at the beginning of a practice to increase vitality and energize your body and mind, while exhibiting gratitude toward the Sun. Chandra Namaskar or "Moon Salutations" is a wonderful counterbalance performed in the evening hours or at the end of a practice to provide soothing and calm energy before resting. The sequence is intended to be slow and gentle - a great practice that both parents and children can enjoy as part of their nightly routine.
Click here to access the Moon Salutation .pdf which includes the activity pictured above to help your child/student/Self practice the sequence! Cut each asana and glue into the circles in sequence of the Salutation (each pose is numbered). We hung ours in my daughter's bedroom so she can follow the chart every night before bed!
The video posted below provides a quick visual of the flow of the Moon Salutations. I apologize for the small size/quality - perhaps we will find a moment to create an instructional video on this sequence soon!
Wishing clarity & guidance,
